On a recent visit to Albuquerque, my father and sister suggested we have lunch at Five Star Burgers. They’re both big “foodies” so I trusted them. I was right to trust. Not only can you have your hamburger cooked to order (medium rare), but it’s one of the best green chile cheeseburgers in the state. Spicy chile, melted cheese, excellent mayo.
Definitely order some sweet potato fries to round out your lunch. Because I give a lot of credit to restaurants with great iced tea, I have to note that theirs is delicious. (Why is tea so hard to get right?) Our server kept our glasses refilled regularly.

My son and I were passing through Taos and I felt like a burger. Saw this place and said that it looked local…couldn’t have been better!!
The green chili cheeseburger was advertised as winning “best in New Mexico”…one of the better burgers I’ve had for sure. The soft heat was perfect and though typically not a mayo guy… The green chili mayo was delicious in itself.
The sweet potato fries (my sons favorite) were serve with “maple cream”…best thing ice ever tasted on sweet potato fries.
Oh…a full compliment of craft beers in tap didn’t hurt, I enjoyed the Alien Amber Ale.

We weren’t sorry! The place was bustling but we were seated quickly and a high chair appeared quickly. The atmosphere was trendy but not snotty. There is a well-stocked bar with many local beers on tap(LOVE seeing that!)
We ordered beers and put in our dinner order. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the 5 Star burger, topped with gorgonzola and crumbled bacon. My husband got the Toas, with green chile, cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce and he added bacon. We ordered the turkey burger for the kids menu for our 18 month old daughter. Our 5 week old son was happy with the bottle we brought. Anyone out there with a toddler feels me. We were very happy with our experience tonight and we will be back!
